What is HACCP+?

HACCP+ is a voluntary certification standard for food-safety and product-safety management in the food chain, the feed chain and related industries such as packaging, logistics and services. It extends the Codex Alimentarius HACCP principles with management-system, supply-chain, social and climate requirements, and is verified by unannounced inspections.

Who owns and operates the HACCP+ scheme?

The scheme is owned and supervised by Belevo Sp. z o.o., Warsaw, Poland (KRS 0000747660). Belevo approves auditors, reviews every audit report and takes the certification decision.

How is HACCP+ different from a standard HACCP audit?

Inspections are unannounced (notice is given 48 or 72 hours before, depending on the activity), the certificate also covers management, supply-chain, social and optional climate requirements, and every audit result is independently reviewed before a certificate is issued.

How long does the certification process take?

Stage I and Stage II must be completed within six months of the start of the audit; otherwise the audit process has to be repeated. Typical timing depends on the readiness of the organisation and the number of sites.

Are all HACCP+ inspections unannounced?

Yes. HACCP+ is based on unannounced inspections throughout the three-year cycle. The organisation is informed 48 or 72 hours before the inspection, depending on the type of activity. An organisation cannot refuse an unannounced inspection.

What happens if non-conformities are found?

Each requirement is scored from +10 to −10. Non-conformities must be addressed with corrective actions agreed with the auditor and a deadline. A result below 70 % or a knock-out (KO) finding requires the report to be sent to Belevo and an additional inspection.

Who decides whether a certificate is issued?

The auditor makes a recommendation. The audit results are always reviewed by Belevo Sp. z o.o., and the recommendation may be changed as a result of that review.

Is the HACCP+ Standard publicly available?

Yes. The standard and its supporting documents can be downloaded free of charge from the Documents page. The documents are protected by copyright and may not be modified or reproduced without consent.

Which version of the standard applies?

Version 01/2026 (working draft of 4 October 2026) is the current reference text in Polish. Version 001 of 2021 is available in English as an overview of the structure. Each new version lists its changes, effective date and transition period.

Can requirements be excluded?

Only conditional (W) requirements, and only when the condition in Annex E is met. Mandatory (O) requirements — including legal requirements, prerequisite programmes and HACCP principles 4.3–4.15 — cannot be excluded. Size, cost or lack of time are never a basis for exclusion.

How much does HACCP+ certification cost?

The price depends on the scope (A1–A4), the number of sites and shifts, the selected modules and the audit duration. Send an enquiry through the contact form and we will prepare a quotation.

What is the “HACCP+ Assured” mark?

Certified organisations may use the “HACCP+ Assured” mark for products and services within the certified scope. Correct use of the certificate and mark is checked during every inspection.

How do I become a HACCP+ auditor?

Apply to Belevo Sp. z o.o., document at least two years of experience and HACCP training, pass the HACCP+ exam and be approved. See the Auditors page for details.

How can I make a complaint or appeal a decision?

Complaints about a certified organisation, an auditor or a certification decision can be submitted in writing to certification@haccpplus.org. See the Complaints & appeals page.
